BioMy name starts my story: it's Urmila, which is an Indian name. I was born in Mumbai, India and although my family moved away to Australia when I was only a year old, I'm Indian at the core and I couldn't change that if I wanted to. I grew up in Sydney and eventually moved to the States after I finished university. I've been living in Seattle for about two years now.
Things that make me happy:
I love to see my mum and dad. Unfortunately this only happens one or two times a year when I get to go back to Sydney, or they come to see me. I am an only child, so we are very close.
I love to get lost in a book. Or two. Or five.
I love to hike and hike and hike until I can forget that civilisation exists and just be amazed by all the miracles of nature, from the humungous to the tiny.
I love to run. The first mile or so is hard but once you get in the zone it's the most therapeutic thing you can do for your body.
I love music. Music makes me happy on some primal level. Music helps me explore feelings I find it hard to understand by myself.
I love playing Scrabble. I think my brain was optimised at birth for Scrabble. I wish I had some more useful talent, but it's what I got.
I love to ski. It is the freest (word?), most exhilarating feeling in the world.
I love friends. They make all the things I mentioned more fun.
I love Bill Gates. Okay, that's a lie. But I do work for Microsoft.
